SJHS Students and Staff Travel in the Footsteps of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac

On October 13, 2024, 15 SJHS juniors and seniors begin their pilgrimage accompanied by Sr. Ernestine Velarde, ODN, and two Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac teachers. 

The pilgrimage is life-changing, formative, powerful. The group will visit Bordeaux, France, the birthplace of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac and of the Sisters of the Company of Mary, Our Lady, visiting sites pivotal to Saint Jeanne's life, ministry, and legacy.

Then the pilgrims will travel to Lourdes, France, the holy site where Saint Bernadette met the Blessed Mother in several visions and where 70 of the faithful have received confirmed healing miracles.

The group will next journey to Barcelona, Spain, where the first Company of Mary school outside France was established. They will celebrate Mass at La Sagrada Familia Basilica designed by Antoni Gaudi.

Finally, the pilgrims will travel to Rome, Italy, where they will take part in a Papal Blessing and message in Saint Peter's Square, visit Saint Peter's Basilica, and see some of the historic sites. On a day-trip to Assisi, Italy, the group will visit the birthplace of Saint Francis of Assisi's and Saint Clare's ministries, returning home on October 26th.
